Death Valley

  • We entered Death Valley from the southwest, taking a long road over the mountains to the west of the valley. The drive was through spectacular wilderness with a fast descent down a road with switch backs and views of the valley.
  • How the Valley was formed — and is still forming.
  • The view from the camp ground, near where this picture was taken, shows mountains to the east illuminated by the setting sun.
  • Driving through the valley. There was more color and beauty than expected for a place known as a "wasteland."
  • View across the valley.
  • Looking down on salt flats from the road exiting the "Artists Palette."
  • The roads just fade off into the distance out west.
  • Look closely and you'll see Betty waving from the side of the road into Natural Bridge.
  • Approach to Natural Bridge
  • The moon over a hill flanking the entrance to path to Natural Bridge.
  • Looking out into the valley on the path from Natural Bridge.
